Migration guide
Switching platforms: the migration checklist
A platform-neutral checklist for moving a community or course business. General guidance, not platform-specific instructions; always confirm details in each platform's help docs.
- 1. Export your members and customers
Download every member/customer list with emails before you change anything. Check each platform's export options in its help center. - 2. Plan for recurring payments
Active subscriptions are tied to the old platform's payment setup. Confirm with both platforms whether they can be migrated; often members must re-subscribe on the new platform. - 3. Move content deliberately
Courses, posts and files rarely transfer 1:1. Inventory videos, downloads and lesson order, then rebuild and spot-check. - 4. Run both in parallel
Keep the old space live (read-only) for a few weeks so members can find the new home. - 5. Tell members early
Announce the date, what changes, and exactly what they need to do. Repeat it. - 6. Recheck the math
Fees differ by plan and price point. Rerun the calculator with your real numbers before committing to an annual plan.
